EstimeterTask timer & focus

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 22 October 2026 · Last updated: 22 October 2026

The short version

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how the Estimeter mobile app ("Estimeter", "the app", "we") handles information on Android and iOS. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

2. Information stored on your device

To work, Estimeter saves the following information locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to us.

WhatWhy
Tasks you create: titles, descriptions, checklists, categories, priorities, due dates, start times and repeat settingsTo show and plan your tasks
Your time estimates and the time you actually tracked (timer sessions and pauses)To compare estimates with actual time
Reflections you choose to record (for example, why a task took longer) and notesTo show patterns in your insights
Templates, daily focus goal, streaks and app settingsTo remember your preferences
Optional profile details you type in (display name, email, role, avatar choice)To personalise the app. These are optional and stay on your device; we never receive them
Estimate suggestions and the personal estimation modelCalculated on your device from your own history to suggest realistic times. The model never leaves your device

3. Information we do not collect

Estimeter does not collect, transmit or store on any server:

The Android app does not request internet access, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. Fonts and all other resources are bundled inside the app, so it does not contact any server while you use it.

4. Device permissions and features

Estimeter asks only for permissions it needs. You can change them at any time in your device settings.

Permission / featureHow it is used
NotificationsTimer alerts (approaching or reaching your estimate, overtime), break reminders, start-time reminders and the optional daily planning reminder. Created on your device.
Exact alarms and "run at startup" (Android)So timer alerts arrive on time, and are rescheduled after your phone restarts.
Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint or passcodeOnly if you turn on App Lock. Verification is done by your device's operating system. Estimeter never receives or stores biometric data.
Vibration and keep-screen-awakeHaptic feedback and keeping the screen on while a timer is open.
Home-screen widget and Live Activity (iOS)Shows your current or next task. The app shares a small summary with the widget through your device's local storage. It is not sent anywhere.
Files and share sheetOnly when you choose to export or import a backup. See section 5.

5. Backups, exports and device backups

Exports you create

You can export a backup (JSON) or a spreadsheet (CSV) from the Me tab. The file is created on your device and handed to your system share sheet. Where it goes next (for example, a cloud drive, email or messaging app) is your choice and is governed by that service's privacy policy. When you import a backup, the app reads only the file you pick.

Operating-system backups

If you have device backups turned on (such as Android backup to your Google account, or iCloud/iTunes backup on iOS), your operating system may include Estimeter's data in that backup. These backups are managed by Google or Apple under your account and their privacy policies; we cannot access them.

6. Sharing and selling of data

We do not sell, rent, share or disclose your information to anyone, because we do not receive it. There are no third-party services in the app that process your data.

7. Security and retention

Your data is kept in the app's private storage, protected by your device's security. You can add App Lock for extra protection. Data stays on your device until you delete it.

8. Your choices and rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. Rights under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA can be exercised directly in the app as described above. You are welcome to contact us with any question.

9. Children

Estimeter is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change (for example, if an optional sync feature is added), we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the change takes effect, and describe the change in the app's release notes.
